Evert Silva, a former Fresno High and University of Portland standout competing unattached, placed second in his section of the men's 5,000 meters in a lifetime-best 13:29.21 at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. Silva improved from his 13:41.89 effort April 14 at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University.
